Handloom Weaving Course - Geelong

handloomschool Open up the potential of the four shaft loom !

Ilka's hand-loom weaving course introduces a hand-picked collection of beautiful new structures, design elements and treatments for weavers ready to extend their repertoire. We learn about wonderful kinetic block weaves, spaced warps, colour & weave design, altered setts, inlay and the potential of combination twills. Tips and techniques for warping with a mill, pre-dyeing yarns and post-felting your cloth will also be explored.

6 fortnightly classes scheduled over 3 months to allow for weaving time at home on looms provided for your use.

Pre-requisite: Completion of an Introduction to Weaving class (or the ability to wind a warp, dress a 4 shaft loom and weave tabby and basic twill). Contact Ilka if unsure of the experience required.

Venue: Diversitat Arts - Wholefoods Café, 70-72 Mercer St. Geelong

Time: Saturdays, 10am - 3pm

Dates: Feb 4 & 18, March 4 &18 and April 1 & 22 (6 full-day classes)

Cost: $580 Includes lunches, tea/coffee, loom hire and materials.
